Let's face it. This is the question on many people's minds as they consider what to do next in this economy. Gas is sky high. Consumers are nervous. Airlines are going broke. Our government has taken to handing out cash to people in an effort to "stimulate" our economy. Why? To prolong our spending society a little longer? Or is this only the media setting this up for us so we can become more dependent on them for our news and to be our saving grace?
Where is the American Spirit?. I choose to believe it is still under there in the heartlands of this country. Men and women who believe that if you work hard, live diligently, do the best you can do by God's grace in your corner of the world, and help your neighbor when given a chance, the greatest days of this country can still be ahead. What does one have to consider however when making life changing decisions and where do we go from here kind of things.
Who really has a grasp on this economy any ways... Do you realize that the U.S. government owns roughly 65% of the land on the western side of the Mississippi? Does that count for some collateral or is that irrelevant when we consider that our dollar is slipping against the world currencies.
However, doesn't the slippage in the American dollar bode well for us finally attacking the trade deficit.. We have heard for years that we are sending our dollars overseas. Well one way to combat this is if our dollar slips against their currency, our goods should start being more attractive to other countries once again...Is this a good way to think about it? Does anyone actually know?
How is all this relevant? Because as a 38 year old soon to be medical student, many people might be tempted to think why? what's the use, this ole world is going in the tank anyway. Why dream big dreams anymore? Why go for it? Well I will tell you why you should go for it and why I am?
The Lord put me (and everyone else) on this earth to fulfill a purpose and He is not one bit surprised by all the "chaos" that is going on. He doesn't sit up there and say "Boy, I wish Greg would have gotten it together a little earlier in life so he could still be effective" No way.... His purpose will be fulfilled in the right time and THE TIME is always the Right Time for Him.....I want to get to the end of my life and realize that I have laid it all on the line.

Greg, it is worth it. Your economist perspective is like global dude! You rock. I always appreciate it when the one who holds the scalpel knows the world.
